What is the Understanding Dad™ program?
A unique program that helps moms improve the relationships they have with fathers, for the benefit of their children.
Understanding Dad™ is a program designed to increase caregivers' awareness of the vital role fathers play in their children's lives. It encourages participants to reflect on their own developmental histories and how these experiences influence their relationships with the fathers of their children. The program also equips participants with effective communication skills aimed at fostering a positive and cooperative partnership with fathers, including in co-parenting arrangements when parents are no longer together.

Why does father involvement matter?
Children thrive when fathers are actively engaged. At times, caregivers may unintentionally engage in gatekeeping behaviors — actions that make it harder for fathers to be involved. Understanding Dad™ gives participants practical tools to reduce these barriers, create healthier interaction patterns, strengthen caregiver–father relationships, and promote better outcomes for children.
